How To Make Your Relationship Grow
If you have been dating someone for longer than a year, you know how easy it is to fall into a relationship plateau. The once exciting weekend plans you used to have now turn into household errands such as cooking, cleaning and doing the laundry. After a while, it can seem monotonous and the passion tends to fizzle.
Any other blog would give you free dating advice that would pertain strictly to your sex life, however there are other more important things a couple has to do to ensure your relationship will grow.
The following are ten easy ways to make sure your relationship will flourish:
1. You Can’t Always Be Right
If you are constantly arguing with your partner over tedious things, ask yourself why you are fighting with them. Is it because your boyfriend leaves his dirty towels on the bathroom floor or is it because you need to be right? By giving up your need to be right, you open yourself up to compromise.
2. Don’t Shun His Interests
So your boyfriend loves the AMC channel and you can’t stand westerns or any of the AMC’s primetime programming. Sometimes, you just have to take one for the team and if you have dragged him to movies and forced him to watch TV shows he wasn’t interested in, then you should do the same for him.
3. Verbalize Your Love To Him
It’s easy to say ‘I love you’ and even easier to show it in the bedroom. However, you should always learn to speak lovingly to your partner without saying those three little words. The more you can do that, the more you will realize why you fall in love with him.
4. Always Plan Fun Times
Day to Day life can be difficult and dull generally, which is why you should always be planning something to do even if it’s on a tight budget. Enjoy each other’s company outside of your home.
5. Don’t Take Him For Granted
In a healthy relationship, it’s vital to practice gratitude. Write down all the nice things your partner has done for you for no reason. Leave them little notes on their pillow periodically on why you’re grateful they are in your life.
6. Praise Your Partner
It’s easy to treat your significant other like you would your bratty younger sibling which is why you should nip that bad habit in the butt! Remember your please and thank you’s. When they do something for you, acknowledge it.
7. Seek Help
If your relationship is in trouble and you want to fix it, never rule out counseling. You should both recognize each other’s strengths and weaknesses as a couple and as individuals and sometimes it takes an unbiased professional to provide that for you.
8. Never Give Up Your Personal Goals
Many women fall victim to giving up everything that ironically attracted their partners to them in the first place simply to please them. Never give up on your career ambitions or your social life for your partner.
9. Give Each Other Enough Personal Space
If there is enough trust in the relationship, then you don’t need to see each other every day of the week. It’s important to have a life outside of your relationship and absence truly does make the heart grow fonder.
10. Cherish One Another
No matter how hard it may get between you two, never let any insignificant thing come between you. Support each other. Laugh together. Cry together and grow together.
